Dominic Lloyd Jeopardy Contestant Profile

Dominic Lloyd is an American finance consultant based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a contestant on Jeopardy! Season 43. His background combines finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis, consulting, restaurant-industry finance and competitive trivia, with particularly deep roots in Louisiana.

Lloyd currently works with Waylin Partners, a consulting firm whose work includes finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and related advisory services. His professional profile places him in New Orleans, matching his Jeopardy! identification as a finance consultant from the city.

Before his consulting career, Lloyd developed substantial experience in financial planning and analysis within the restaurant industry. He worked with Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, the New Orleans-founded restaurant company behind the Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine concepts. Among his responsibilities there was work involving financial reporting and restaurant-performance analysis, including using operational and financial data to identify problems and improve efficiency.

Lloyd’s educational background is firmly rooted in finance. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he studied finance from 2013 to 2017. He was part of the university’s Honors community and became heavily involved in Quiz Bowl, competing for UL Lafayette while still a freshman.

In 2014, Lloyd was a member of the UL Lafayette Quiz Bowl team that won the Louisiana state collegiate championship. The four-person team competed against colleges from across Louisiana and went undefeated through the state tournament. He subsequently represented UL Lafayette at a regional competition featuring teams including Rice, Texas A&M, Tulane and Louisiana Tech.

His involvement in academic competition continued well beyond that early victory. Lloyd later attended Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business from 2017 to 2018, while remaining active in quiz bowl. He competed for both UL Lafayette and Tulane University and won regional ACF Fall mirror tournaments in 2015 and 2017.

Quiz bowl has ultimately become one of the longest-running threads in Lloyd’s life. A Louisiana native, he has spent approximately 16 years involved in quiz bowl at the high-school, college and organizational levels. His competitive career began at Jesuit High School, continued through UL Lafayette and Tulane, and eventually developed into leadership within the state’s quiz-bowl community.

Lloyd serves as President-Elect of the Louisiana Quiz Bowl Association (LQBA). The organization supports and develops quiz-bowl competition throughout Louisiana, giving him a role in the same academic competition community in which he participated as a student. His progression from high-school quiz-bowl player to collegiate state champion, longtime competitor and state association leader provides a natural background for his eventual appearance on Jeopardy!.

Lloyd is married to Gina and lives in New Orleans with an unusually memorable collection of pets. The couple have a tortoise named Meatball and three snakes named Bisou, Holly and Thistle. Trivia remains part of his recreational life as well as his organized quiz-bowl involvement: he regularly competes in local bar trivia, including contests for bar tabs.
