Ashley Caval Curto Jeopardy Contestant Profile

Ashley Caval Curto is a well-rounded educator and passionate individual from Weymouth, Massachusetts. She has had a varied and interesting career that spans both the academic and creative fields. A Newington, Connecticut native, Ashley attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she graduated in 2009 with a major in music. She also pursued coursework in German Studies, Physics, and European History. Her time at Dartmouth was marked by her involvement as a classroom aide in the America Reads program and informal tutoring of her peers. Additionally, she worked as a manager for Dartmouth Dining Services.

Upon graduation, Ashley found herself in a tough economic climate due to the Great Recession, which led to the disappearance of a job opportunity she had lined up. In search of greater opportunities, she relocated to the Boston area in 2010, where she worked at MIT for several years. She initially joined MIT Press and later transitioned to the university’s writing program. It was during this time that Ashley began building a reputation as a tutor, and by 2013, she was able to leave MIT and become a full-time private tutor.

Throughout her tutoring career, Ashley has supported a diverse group of students, many of whom are diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, or other processing disorders. Her ability to empathize with neurodivergent students, coupled with her personal understanding of the challenges they face, has made her a trusted figure in the academic community. Ashley is particularly skilled in helping students develop executive functioning skills, which are often critical for those with learning differences. In addition to her tutoring, Ashley has an interest in music and photography, which she often incorporates into her life outside of work.

Ashley is an active musician, having been involved in various musical theatre productions, including those with MIT and the Wellesley Players. She was a founding member of the heavy metal band Adamantis and is also known for her involvement with the New England Classical Singers and Boston’s Spectrum Singers. Photography became an important part of her life during the pandemic, and Ashley has since opened an Etsy shop to sell her work, focusing on nature photography. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time hiking, bowling, and exploring the beaches of Cape Cod with her husband Erik, who is also an educator and musician.
