Robin Richardson is an American urban planner based in Memphis, Tennessee, with professional experience in sustainability, resilience planning, and municipal development. Richardson works as a Planner II in the Office of Sustainability and Resilience within the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development. In this role, Richardson contributes to environmental policy initiatives, grant implementation, and planning activities related to climate and infrastructure. Responsibilities include assisting with the Memphis metropolitan statistical area’s planning award application for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants, conducting greenhouse gas inventories for stationary emissions, researching emissions reduction measures, and assisting with grant writing. Richardson has also completed site plan reviews and comments for the Memphis-Shelby County Land Use Control Board and Board of Adjustment, while managing grant implementation from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Energy, the Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Additional involvement includes participating in a focus group for the development of the Dashboard for Rapid Vehicle Electrification (DRVE) 2.0 created by the Electrification Coalition and Atlas Public Policy.

Richardson also worked as an intern in the Office of Sustainability and Resilience for the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development between August 2022 and April 2023, assisting with site plan reviews, researching electric vehicle replacements for the Shelby County Government fleet, compiling greenhouse gas emissions data, and attending meetings regarding federal grants from the Department of Energy and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Before entering the planning field, Richardson worked extensively in administrative and support roles. These included serving as an Office Manager Assistant at Transformation Center and Associates from 2014 to 2021, where Richardson handled insurance claims, reconciled patient accounts, managed medical records requests, coordinated admissions to intensive outpatient programs, scheduled patient appointments, and ensured compliance with Joint Commission and HIPAA standards. Earlier positions included roles at Lab Four as an Office Support Specialist and Temporary Office Assistant, a host position at Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, and internships with the Refugee Empowerment Program and St. Patrick Presbyterian Church. Richardson also worked as an Environmental Student Associate at Rhodes College, helping track campus recycling output, calculate carbon emissions for the President’s Climate Commitment, and supervise work-study students. Early work experience includes serving as a counselor at Camp Yahweh, leading educational activities and supervising children during field trips.

Richardson earned a Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) from The University of Memphis between August 2021 and May 2023. During graduate school, Richardson was actively involved in the Planning Student Organization, serving as president from 2022 to 2023, and participated in Community Planning and Environmental Design (CoPED) initiatives. Richardson was also inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa in 2023. Richardson previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Rhodes College between 2008 and 2012.
