Shannon Hughes Mastick is an accomplished patent attorney and partner at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, based in Chicago and residing in Granger, Indiana. Her work covers the full spectrum of domestic and international patent prosecution, including drafting applications, conducting examiner interviews, managing foreign agents, and preparing patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. She has participated in both the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinder and Fellowship Programs, and she has been selected for Illinois Rising Stars, The American Registry Top Attorneys, and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Patent Law. Beyond her legal work, Shannon remains highly involved in women’s IP organizations, serving on the Chicago board of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law and maintaining active membership in IPLAC and ChiWIP. She also has a background in Notre Dame’s Baraka Bouts women’s boxing program, where she competed under the nickname “Motion to Strike” and supported mission-driven fundraising efforts.
