  1. John Friedrich says:

Hello David. My name is John Friedrich. My grandmother was Marge DeBacker Sommers, and her father was Joseph DeBacker. Joseph and his wife immigrated from Flanders to a Belgian community in the lower eastside of Detroit around 1900. You very much resemble Marge and Joseph! The DeBacker line is the branch with the least information I have in my family tree. Perhaps Joseph had a brother who is your ancestor. Does your family have any DeBacker ancestry you can share?
PS: I am also an architect (Lawrence Tech), I also swam (Bishop Gallagher HS), I am also an Eagle Scout (Troop 148).
