Pavel Chekov, a character in the Star Trek series played by Walter Koenig, first made his appearance in the show’s second season in 1967. Chekov is a young, enthusiastic Starfleet officer from Russia, serving as the navigator on the starship USS Enterprise.
Gene Roddenberry, the visionary behind Star Trek, aimed to depict a future where Earth’s nations, including those separated by the Cold War, had moved past their differences and joined forces to explore space. He believed that featuring a character from behind the Iron Curtain, such as Chekov, would demonstrate the potential for geopolitics to transcend the East-West divide that characterized the 1960s.
The character of Chekov quickly became a favorite among audiences and a vital component of the Star Trek series. His appearances extended beyond the original series to the animated series and numerous Star Trek films. Known for his unique Russian accent, Chekov often made references to Russian history and culture and had a habit of claiming various notable achievements and inventions as Russian.

Final Jeopardy is the final round of the popular American television game show Jeopardy!, in which participants test their knowledge in numerous areas by answering questions. In Final Jeopardy, participants are given a single clue and must wager a percentage of their existing earnings based on their confidence in their ability to successfully respond.
Each contestant surreptitiously writes down their wager during the commercial break. The Final Jeopardy clue is presented when the programme resumes, and participants have 30 seconds to write down their solution in the form of a question (e.g., “What is…?”). When the timer runs out, the host, reveals each contestant’s response and wager in ascending order of their pre-Final Jeopardy scores. The scores of contestants are adjusted based on whether their response is correct or incorrect, as well as the amount wagered. At the end of the round, the contestant with the highest score is proclaimed the winner.
