About Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, 13 November 2023
In 1916, Coca-Cola introduced its signature drink in uniquely designed Georgia Green glass bottles. This move aimed to set Coca-Cola apart from the multitude of similar products on the market.
To achieve a distinctive bottle design, Coca-Cola held a competition which was won by the Root Glass Company in Terre Haute, Indiana. Their design, influenced by the shape of a cocoa bean despite Coca-Cola’s lack of cocoa ingredients, was patented in 1915 and went into production the following year.
Known for its “contour” or “hobble skirt” design, the bottle was crafted to be identifiable even when out of sight or damaged. The use of Georgia Green glass, named after Coca-Cola’s home state and headquarters, further enhanced its unique appearance.
This bottle design became a key element of Coca-Cola’s brand identity, gaining such popularity that it was trademarked in 1960, a testament to its significance in branding and design history.

Final Jeopardy is the final round of the popular American television game show Jeopardy!, in which participants test their knowledge in numerous areas by answering questions. In Final Jeopardy, participants are given a single clue and must wager a percentage of their existing earnings based on their confidence in their ability to successfully respond.
Each contestant surreptitiously writes down their wager during the commercial break. The Final Jeopardy clue is presented when the programme resumes, and participants have 30 seconds to write down their solution in the form of a question (e.g., “What is…?”). When the timer runs out, the host, reveals each contestant’s response and wager in ascending order of their pre-Final Jeopardy scores. The scores of contestants are adjusted based on whether their response is correct or incorrect, as well as the amount wagered. At the end of the round, the contestant with the highest score is proclaimed the winner.
