Additionally, he was an observer at the 2014 Universal Periodic Review of North Korea at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. There, he and his colleagues presented a report on humanitarian aid to Ambassador Bob King, the U.S. Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights Issues.
In terms of education, John holds a Bachelor of Science in anthropology from the University of Utah, a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law. He also holds a certificate of specialization in Pacific-Asian legal studies. An avid traveler, John has visited over 50 countries and territories across six continents.
