Sam, Harry, Albert, and Jack L. Warner founded the Warner Bros. studio, which became a significant American film studio.
Sam Warner is credited with procuring the technology that enabled Warner Bros. to produce The Jazz Singer, the film industry’s first feature-length talking picture.
He died of pneumonia the day before the film’s release, and as a result, none of the Warner brothers attended the premiere of The Jazz Singer on October 6, 1927, at Warner Bros.’ flagship theatre in New York City, as the surviving brothers returned to California for his funeral.
