About Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, 19 February 2024
Originating from Nova Scotia, William Knapp Buckley is renowned for creating Buckley’s, a brand that introduced a highly effective cough syrup acting as an antitussive. This medication is specifically designed to suppress the cough reflex, making it a go-to solution for dry coughs that produce no phlegm.
One of the distinguishing features of Buckley’s cough syrup is its notably strong and often disliked taste, a characteristic that has become almost as well-known as the syrup’s ability to alleviate cough symptoms. Embracing this, the brand cleverly markets itself with the slogan, “It tastes awful. And it works,” highlighting its effectiveness despite the taste. Buckley’s has since broadened its range, offering various remedies for cough and cold symptoms, and has continued to be recognized for its strong efficacy.
William Knapp Buckley’s contribution to over-the-counter cold and cough treatment through his antitussive formula has cemented Buckley’s status in the healthcare market. It remains a preferred choice for individuals looking for reliable relief from coughing, showcasing Buckley’s enduring legacy in providing potent medicinal solutions.

Final Jeopardy is the final round of the popular American television game show Jeopardy!, in which participants test their knowledge in numerous areas by answering questions. In Final Jeopardy, participants are given a single clue and must wager a percentage of their existing earnings based on their confidence in their ability to successfully respond.
Each contestant surreptitiously writes down their wager during the commercial break. The Final Jeopardy clue is presented when the programme resumes, and participants have 30 seconds to write down their solution in the form of a question (e.g., “What is…?”). When the timer runs out, the host, reveals each contestant’s response and wager in ascending order of their pre-Final Jeopardy scores. The scores of contestants are adjusted based on whether their response is correct or incorrect, as well as the amount wagered. At the end of the round, the contestant with the highest score is proclaimed the winner.
