About Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, 5 February 2024
The Cambodian flag prominently displays Angkor Wat, designated a World Heritage site, which was constructed in the 12th century. This immense temple complex stands as the world’s largest structure dedicated to religion and is a pivotal emblem of Cambodia’s cultural legacy, showcasing the nation’s pride and spiritual heritage.
Erected under King Suryavarman II’s rule in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat initially served as a Hindu sanctuary in honor of Vishnu. However, as the religious landscape of the area evolved, it seamlessly transitioned into a Buddhist temple, reflecting the broader religious transformations within the region.
The depiction of Angkor Wat on the Cambodian flag, officially readopted in 1993 following Cambodia’s liberation from French colonialism in 1948, fulfills several roles. It symbolizes the nation’s resurgence and honor after enduring colonial dominance, conflict, and the Khmer Rouge’s attempts to obliterate Cambodia’s historical and cultural essence.
Since being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992, Angkor Wat’s portrayal as a hallmark of architectural brilliance and cultural profundity has been further solidified. Its representation on Cambodia’s flag is a testament to its crucial role in the nation’s cultural and historical narrative, setting the Cambodian flag apart by featuring such an iconic architectural and historical marvel.

Final Jeopardy is the final round of the popular American television game show Jeopardy!, in which participants test their knowledge in numerous areas by answering questions. In Final Jeopardy, participants are given a single clue and must wager a percentage of their existing earnings based on their confidence in their ability to successfully respond.
Each contestant surreptitiously writes down their wager during the commercial break. The Final Jeopardy clue is presented when the programme resumes, and participants have 30 seconds to write down their solution in the form of a question (e.g., “What is…?”). When the timer runs out, the host, reveals each contestant’s response and wager in ascending order of their pre-Final Jeopardy scores. The scores of contestants are adjusted based on whether their response is correct or incorrect, as well as the amount wagered. At the end of the round, the contestant with the highest score is proclaimed the winner.
