Thomas Wilson is a teacher based in Taylors, South Carolina. He works at Saint Joseph’s Catholic School, where he teaches math and science. Over the years, he has been actively involved in trivia-related activities, having participated in quiz bowl competitions during high school and later in graduate school at Stanford University. His lifelong passion for trivia eventually led him to pursue a long-held dream: appearing on Jeopardy!.

Mr. Wilson’s journey to the Jeopardy! stage was a long one. He started trying to get on the show more than 15 years ago, with several unsuccessful auditions. However, his perseverance paid off when he was finally selected for the show after an online test and multiple rounds of interviews. His excitement and nervousness were evident as he prepared for the taping of his episodes in Culver City, California. Mr. Wilson’s appearance is set to air on April 15, 2025.

In addition to his passion for Jeopardy!, Mr. Wilson has a background in competitive trivia. While attending Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, he got involved with quiz bowl again, and later at Stanford, he was part of a team known for being one of the best on the West Coast. His knowledge spans a wide range of topics, including British authors, European capitals, the Middle Ages, math, science, history, classical music, geography, and sports, particularly baseball and football.

Throughout his career as an educator, Mr. Wilson has always been committed to helping his students grow, not just academically but also in their pursuit of knowledge beyond the classroom. His enthusiasm for learning has made him an engaging teacher, one who encourages his students to embrace their curiosity and love for knowledge. Although he does not speak any other languages, his ability to recognize words in other languages speaks to his broad intellectual interests.

Mr. Wilson’s perseverance, patience, and passion for trivia have led him to achieve this life goal of appearing on Jeopardy!. His excitement to compete and his belief that his knowledge will serve him well in the pressure-filled environment of the show reflect his deep dedication to his craft, both as a teacher and as a contestant on a game show that he has long admired.
